Based on the latest consideration and reporting on the government to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 corona virus that is still ongoing today, we announce 3 important updates about the implementation of the Bromo Marathon 2020 this year:

The format of the race has been changed to virtual remote run

To follow the advice of the government & in order to maintain health protocol, we have to change the format of Bromo Marathon 2020 event at the venue to a virtual remote run while still providing attractive door prizes. Information on the more technical details will be announced on this website and social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook)

This year's participants are automatically registered for BroMar 2021

For registered participants, both early birds and regular, are automatically registered for next year's event. However, participants who couldn't participate in the Bromo Marathon 2021 could transfer their registration to another person without any fees.

Refund Policy

From the two points above, we apologize profusely that the submission of a refund cannot be fulfilled with various considerations as we continue to hold it in the format of a virtual remote run. Every finisher this year is still listed as a Bromo Marathon 2020 runner and are entitled to an official certificate.

We hoped that all participants could understand the situation in order to maintain our common health and safety.

How To Participate
The Virtual Remote Run?

We work with SportSplits as tracker application provider that you can download from

Each Participant will be given access to the tracker app

We will send login access to all BroMar 2020 Participants via email on D-30 before the race.

Run on Sept 5th or Sept 6th while carrying your smartphone

Running track is not specified & you can start running anywhere. The app will automatically detect the route you are taking and match it with the official BroMar 2020 route. Make sure you run in an area that is reachable by your internet or mobile provider.

Monitor your distance and travel time in the app

Note the distance that has been traveled through the application, the tracker application will automatically notify if the distance on the running route has been exceeded according to the distance on the official BroMar 2020 route.

Finish 

Distance and travel time results will be recorded & submitted automatically by the tracker app. If you have completed the route, you will get a time record and an official certificate, stating you are a BroMar 2020 Finisher.

Bromo Marathon 5K covers a distance of 5 Kilometers. Starting from the Bromo Terrace, Ngadiwono, runners toured several villages around Tengger, and returned to the Bromo Terrace. Along this route you can enjoy beautiful scenery, calm temples, and the unique and friendly Tengger community along the way, when they meet often they will provide motivation or just to greet runners.

Departing from Tosari, runners start on the first stretch of paved road and will directly challenge the track downhill mountain. Out of the village lemah mendek and Banyu Meneng the runners entered the small village with serenity in Senogiri, here they will traverse a steep road, down to the village towards Jetak then, a typical village perched with diverse customs.

Moving from Ngawu, rising gradually starts, winding through the packed dirt road by the forest. 

Emerging from the forest, thinning way to the edge of the caldera offering extensive views of the surrounding landscape as they venture through the top side of the park. 

Runners continue along the edges to Dinglik Viewpoint where they meet again paved road as the course rose to a spectacular view of the absolute Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park. Making their way down from Dinglik, runners follow the paved roads are winding and before reaching the finish, runners will pass through a traditional market which is certainly typical perch as the economic center of the citizens, after the runners entered the finish mark has a distance of 21 097 km.

This service also provides a diversity of trails in the area with half the route on paved roads, and a half-track mountain trail. Combining several hills along the track and the altitude varies from 1840-2476m.

Departing from the starting point in the village Tosari, adventure runners to conquer the track at Bromo marathon began. The first track is going through the asphalt road which will pass through the village down to the region settlement Tosari small Tengger people and then entered in the Jetak-Sunogiri and where the runners will meet with the typical steep mountainous dirt road.

 Moving from Ngawu, rising gradually starts, winding through a dirt road in the forest. out of the woods, the road to the edge of the caldera offering extensive views of the surrounding landscape as they ran through the top side of the park.

Runners continue along the edges to Dinglik Viewpoint where they meet again paved the way for the course up to the spectacular view of the absolute Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park. Making their way down from Dinglik, runners follow the paved roads winding along the side of the hills to Wonokitri and returned to the village Tosari to end the race, they will finish the track for a total distance of 42.195 km.

Full Marathon covers a distance of 42.195 Kilometers.

Begins and ends in the village Tosari Tengger, runners will rotate in several villages along the Tengger mountains, immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery, quiet temples and unique Tengger people along the way.

Doorprize

The door prize drawing will be held on September 8th, 2020 starting at 7pm (Jakarta time), participants can see live streaming on this website. Prizes will be sent to the address of the lucky participant.

About The Race

1When the event will be held?

Bromo Marathon 2020 Virtual Remote Run will be held on September 5th & 6th, 2020 in the format of virtual remote run, which similar to a traditional running event except the participant completes it entirely on their own.

2Will it be any activity in the venue on that day?

No, unfortunately. Based on the government's recommendation, there will be no activity or event whatsoever in the venue.

3Is there any requirement before I run?

You will need to install the Sportsplits Tracker app which available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Make sure that you have chosen the Bromo Marathon 2020 Virtual Remote Run event and activate it before starting to run.

4Where do I have to run? Any route or track should I take as requirement?

Bromo Marathon 2020 Virtual Remote Run can be run anywhere, there is no special requirement about your route, nor a required location that must be completed. Participants can walk, run outside, jogging track, and entirely up to you. Participants can also perform this race at any speed they like on any track. Of course, please make sure that the track you are going to take is covered by your internet connection.

5Can I run on the treadmill and be recorded by the app?

Unfortunately, no. As the app will measure your location and distance based on your GPS.

6Do I have to run at a certain time?

Nope! You pick the time - anywhere between September 5 & 6, at 06.00 until 21.00 (Jakarta time).

7How do I know I have completed the route?

The tracker app will notify you that you have completed your virtual run based on your category and it will submit the result automatically, as long as there is an internet network, obviously.

8What categories are available?

As planned before this pandemic, Bromo Marathon 2020 Virtual Remote Run offer the same category: 5K, 10K, 21K and 42K.

9Is there any cut of time for each category?

There will be no Cut of Time for each category. As long as you run between the specified time (5 & 6 September 2020, at 06.00-21.00 / Jakarta time), then you will be fine.

10Can I split my run in those 2 days?

No, you can't. Only single run in a day will be recorded.

11When is race pack collection?

We are very sorry, there will be no race pack collection.

12How about race T-shirt or medal?

This year we are not providing any of that, as we transferred all this year's participant to become next year event without any additional fee.

1How do I register?

If you were registered as the participant of Bromo Marathon 2020, you could join the race with a new format virtual remote run automatically. The access ID for login to the app will be sent to each participant's email, around D-30 before the event date.

2My friend hasn't registered for this event, is the registration still open?

Unfortunately, no. Currently, we have not accepting any new registration.

3If I am injured, sick, pregnant or suddenly have to go out of town, can I get a refund?

We apologize, the registration fees are non-refundable. For registered participants, both early birds and regular, are automatically registered for next year's event. However, participants who couldn't participate in the Bromo Marathon 2021 could transfer their registration to another person without any fees.

Not. Registration fees are non-refundable. However, participants who have registered and cannot participate in the Bromo marathon event for 2021 can transfer their registrants to others without incurring any fees.

5Are there prizes in the Bromo Marathon 2020 Virtual Remote Run?

There will be no prize for the fastest finisher, however we still provides attractive doorprizes for participants who has finished the route.

6Do I need to send my result?

Not necessary as the result will be automatically recorded & submitted by the app as long as you have internet connection.

7When will the doorprizes be drawn and announced?

The doorprize drawing will be held on September 8th, 2020 starting at 7pm (Jakarta time), participants can see live streaming on this website. If there is any date changes, it would be announced.
